Reference cards¶
Microsoft 365 Copilot¶
- What it is: the AI assistant embedded across Microsoft 365 apps, grounded in your work data.
- For: everyday employee productivity — drafting, summarizing, analyzing, meetings.
- Key capabilities: grounding via Microsoft Graph; app-specific features; agents; memory & instructions.
- Choose when: you want broad productivity gains for knowledge workers. Licensing: per-user subscription. Exam: AB-730 (all), AB-731 Domain 2.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (web & mobile)¶
- What it is: the conversational Copilot experience on the web, mobile, Teams, and Outlook.
- For: ad-hoc questions and content creation from anywhere; web grounding, plus work data with a license.
- Choose when: you need general chat; upgrade for work-data grounding. Exam: AB-730 D1, AB-731 D2.
Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)¶
- Signatures: Outlook (summarize threads, draft replies); Word (draft/rewrite/ask; deck source); Excel (analyze data, formulas, insights); PowerPoint (deck from prompt/Word); Teams (meeting recap, catch-up). Exam: AB-730 D1 & D3.
Agents & the Agent Store¶
- What they are: purpose-built, reusable assistants; the Agent Store is the catalog of ready-made ones.
- Configure: instructions, knowledge, capabilities, suggested prompts (no code). Share with the team. Choose when: a repeatable, knowledge-specific task. Exam: AB-730 D2.
Notebooks¶
- What they are: personal workspaces to gather content and prompts on a topic and keep working over time. Contrast: personal (vs Pages = collaborative). Exam: AB-730 D2.
Copilot Pages¶
- What they are: a collaborative, shareable canvas to turn Copilot responses into durable, co-edited content. Exam: AB-730 D3.
Researcher¶
- What it is: a built-in agent for deep, multi-source research and synthesis with citations.
- Choose when: investigate/synthesize/report. Contrast: Analyst = data. Exam: AB-731 D2.
Analyst¶
- What it is: a built-in agent for quantitative data analysis (insights, tables, visualizations).
- Choose when: analyze data/compute trends. Contrast: Researcher = research. Exam: AB-731 D2.
Microsoft Copilot Studio¶
- What it is: a low-code platform to build, customize, and manage agents and extend Copilot with connectors and actions. Contrast: agent builder = no-code, simpler. Exam: AB-731 D2.
Microsoft Graph¶
- What it is: the data fabric/API of Microsoft 365 that Copilot grounds on; connectors feed external data into it. Exam: AB-731 D2 (and the foundation of Ch 2).
Microsoft Foundry¶
- What it is: the platform for building and running custom AI applications and agents, with a model catalog and lifecycle tools. Choose when: bespoke or customer-facing AI (the "build" path). Benefits: scalability, security. Licensing: consumption (pay-as-you-go / commitment tiers). Exam: AB-731 D2.
Foundry Tools (Azure AI Search, Azure AI Vision, model catalog)¶
- What they are: building blocks within Foundry — the model catalog, Azure AI Search (RAG/grounding), and Azure AI Vision (image understanding), among others. Exam: AB-731 D2.
